About us:

1st Gear School of Motoring is based in Woodley (Berkshire) and is run by Janine Terry. 

I’m a fully qualified female driving instructor and have been teaching since 1997. I’m friendly, patient and punctual. I derive most of my work from past client recommendations. In 2002, I set up 1st Gear School of Motoring and have taught hundreds of people around Reading.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone with experience looking to pass their test I will design a course to suit each individuals needs. I am also able to offer advanced driving courses, refresher courses, intensive driving courses,pass plus and am qualified to help deaf puplils.

I also work as a trainer for the new BTEC in Driving Science course.

I provide all new drivers with a copy of the latest edition of the Highway Code free of charge.

I’m fully qualified with the following:

The Car:

My vehicle is a 2007 Seat Ibiza 1.9TDI. It’s a small car which performs on a par with a 1.4 litre engine petrol car.

It has manual transmission (gears), power-assisted steering, and air conditioning as standard on most modern cars. The steering and seating position can be adjusted to height, and it offers a comfortable ride with excellent all-round visibility.
